As part of the Joint Master’s Program in Political Science – Integration and Governance (PoSIG), students attended a guest lecture by Bojana Naumovska (UKIM – Skopje) on “Electoral Systems in South-East Europe.”
The lecture provided a comparative analysis of electoral systems across the region, examining how different electoral models shape political competition, coalition formation, representation, and government stability. Using case studies from South-East European countries, students explored the impact of electoral rules on democratic governance and political outcomes.
Particular emphasis was placed on the interaction between institutional design and political context, demonstrating how similar electoral systems can produce different political dynamics depending on historical, social, and institutional conditions. Through interactive discussions and comparative analysis, students were encouraged to critically evaluate elections not only as voting mechanisms but also as fundamental institutions that influence democratic development, political representation, and governance.
